Renting a bike is the single most efficient way to discover Lima. The Malecón of Miraflores has 10 kilometers of dedicated, traffic-separated cycle paths running along the Pacific cliffs, connecting Miraflores to Barranco. Lima Bici has been renting bikes in Miraflores since 2014, from Avenida Larco 812, Tienda 102 — 5 minutes walk from Parque Kennedy. We rent city bikes, mountain bikes, and tandems — helmets, locks, and a route map included on every rental.
Real-time availability online: scroll up to see our live fleet. Each bike is named, photographed, and bookable instantly. From $10 for 4 hours, $22 for 24 hours.
1. The cycle path network is unusually good for South America. The Malecón has continuous, separated cycle paths from Parque Salazar to the Puente de los Suspiros in Barranco — about 10 km without ever crossing major traffic. Costa Verde has a parallel cycling track. Inside Miraflores and Barranco, residential streets are bike-friendly.
2. Lima's terrain is mostly flat. Unlike Cusco or Arequipa, Lima sits at sea level with gentle gradients in the central neighborhoods. Even casual cyclists handle 10–20 km comfortably.
3. It's faster than you'd expect. Miraflores to Barranco is 15–20 minutes by bike vs 15–25 minutes by Uber in traffic. For exploring the cliffs, parks, and street art, the bike is consistently the better tool.
City bikes
Comfortable upright geometry, multi-speed gearing, wide tires for cobblestone and asphalt. Sizes S–XL (1.55m–1.95m). Best for the Malecón, Miraflores–Barranco loop, casual exploration.
Mountain bikes
Front-suspension hardtails, wider knobby tires, wider gear range. Best for Costa Verde dirt tracks, longer rides outside the central neighborhoods.
Tandems
Two-seater bikes for couples or families. Rare in Lima — almost no other rental shop has them. Ideal for couples on a honeymoon or parents with kids aged 8–14. Reserve in advance — limited stock.
All rentals include: helmet (mandatory by law), heavy-duty lock, basic repair kit, printed cycle path map.
Route 1
1–2 hours · 6 km · Easy
Start at our shop, head west to the Malecón, ride along the cliffs to the Parque del Amor, continue to Larcomar, then loop back. Completely flat, separated cycle paths the entire way. Best in late afternoon (5–7pm) for golden light over the Pacific.
Route 2
2–3 hours · 12 km round-trip · Easy–Medium
Continue past Larcomar along the Malecón, descend gradually to Barranco, find the Puente de los Suspiros. Lock bikes near Plaza San Francisco, explore street art and cafés on foot. Lunch at Canta Rana — 60 years old, the best ceviche in the neighborhood. Fits perfectly into a half-day (4h) rental.
Route 3
4–6 hours · 20–25 km · Medium–Advanced
Descend from the Malecón via Bajada Balta to the Costa Verde coastal highway. Continue south past Chorrillos to La Herradura beach. Significant climbs when ascending back. Mountain bike preferred. Not for casual cyclists.

Helmet is mandatory by Peruvian law. It's included with every rental. Police occasionally check.
Cycle paths are separated from cars along the Malecón and Costa Verde. Inside Miraflores and Barranco, you share residential streets with low-speed traffic.
Avoid: the Centro Histórico (dense traffic, no cycle paths), major avenues like Javier Prado or Arequipa, and riding at night without lights.
Phone and valuables: keep in the front basket or a body-worn bag. Lima's main petty crime is "raqueteo" — phone snatching by motorbike — on busy avenues, not on the Malecón cycle path. Stay alert when crossing major streets.
Is the Malecón safe for biking? Yes — one of the safest urban cycling routes in South America. Physically separated from traffic, well-lit, regularly patrolled by Serenazgo (Miraflores municipal security).

How much does it cost to rent a bike in Lima?
$10 for 4 hours, $15 for 8 hours, $22 for 24 hours. Tandems are $15/$22/$32. All prices include helmet, lock, repair kit, and route map. No hidden fees. Multi-day rentals (4+ days): contact us.
Where is your bike rental shop in Lima?
Avenida Larco 812, Tienda 102, Miraflores — 5 minutes walk from Parque Kennedy. Easily accessible by Uber, taxi, or the Metropolitano BRT (Ricardo Palma station). No free parking on site, paid parking available nearby.
Can I rent multiple bikes for my group?
Yes — our booking system supports a multi-bike cart. Select your date and duration once, then add each bike you need. All bikes are paid in a single secure transaction. Perfect for couples, families, or groups of friends wanting to ride together.
How does real-time availability work?
Our booking widget shows the actual number of bikes available for each model at any moment. Once you choose your date and duration, you see exactly what's available. When you complete checkout, that specific bike is locked for you — no double bookings, no surprises at pickup.
Do I need to book in advance?
Not strictly required — we accept walk-ins when bikes are available. But during peak season (December–March, July–August), our fleet often books out. We recommend booking 24–48 hours ahead.
What is the deposit?
A refundable deposit is held on your credit card at pickup. Fully refunded when the bikes are returned in good condition. We verify your passport but do not keep it.
Do you offer electric bike rental in Lima?
Not currently. We rent city bikes, mountain bikes, and tandems. Lima's terrain in the central neighborhoods is flat enough that most riders don't need electric assistance for the Malecón or the Miraflores–Barranco route.
Are tandems really available?
Yes — we're one of the only shops in Lima that has them. Ideal for couples and for parents with a child aged 8–14. They book out faster than single bikes — reserve in advance using the booking widget at the top of this page.
Can children rent bikes?
Yes, we have sizes for children from approximately 8 years old (1.30m+). Children under 8 ride better on tandem with a parent.
What if it rains in Lima?
Lima practically never rains (less than 10 mm per year — drier than the Sahara). The garúa — coastal mist from May to November — is light fog, not rain. You can ride through it without issue. For the rare actual rain (El Niño years), we offer flexible rescheduling.
Can I ride from Lima to Pachacámac?
Yes — but it's a serious ride. 30 km one way, mostly along the Costa Verde and the Panamericana Sur, with significant climbs and heavy traffic on some sections. Mountain bike recommended. Not suitable for beginners.
