About Lima — A City Worth Exploring by Bike
Lima is one of South America's most vibrant and underrated capitals. With a population of over 10 million, it stretches along 70 km of Pacific coastline and encompasses diverse neighborhoods from the gleaming skyscrapers of San Isidro to the cobblestoned plazas of the Historic Center. Miraflores, our base, perches on dramatic 80-meter cliffs above the sea, offering world-class paragliding, sunset views, and some of Peru's finest restaurants. Barranco, just to the south, is the city's bohemian soul — a maze of colorful colonial houses, street murals, independent galleries, and live music bars.
Lima's Historic Center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the Cathedral, and the famous Monastery of San Francisco with its catacombs. Cycling is one of the best ways to explore these neighborhoods — you cover more ground than on foot, avoid traffic jams, and discover the hidden corners that taxis rush past.
Our Expert Guides
Lima Bici's guides are the heart of the experience. Carlos Mendoza, our senior guide and founder, was born and raised in Miraflores and holds a degree in history. María Quispe specializes in gastronomy and has deep relationships with local chefs and market vendors. Diego Reyes is our coastal and sunset expert, with unmatched knowledge of the Costa Verde. Sofia Torres brings a background in fine arts to tours focused on Barranco's street art and gallery scene. All guides are MINCETUR certified and speak multiple languages.
